Abstract

Pemilu telah dilaksanakan pemilu secara langsung sebanyak 4 (empat) kali sejak reformasi. Meskipun demikian, kedewasaan peserta pemilu masih rendah yang ditunjukkan dengan adanya konflik karena politik identas untuk meraih kemenangan. Problem ini dikhawatirkan muncul kembali pada pemilu serentak tahun 2024. Mengingat dampak politik identitas sangat berbahaya bagi dishamoni sosial sehingga perlu disosialisasikan pentingnya memahami politik identitas dikalangan mahasiswa terutama pemilih pemula. Sosialisasi yang diselenggarakan tanggal 20 Agustus tahun 2024 bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa pemilih pemula tentang politik identitas. Pemahamannya akan membuat mahasiswa dapat mencermati informasi yang diperoleh dari media sosial secara lebih rasional, dan membuatnya bersikap dan berperilaku rasional dalam menyikapi politik identitas. Sosialisasi dilakukan dengan metode Focus Goup Discussion (FGD), sehingga ada interaksi yang akrab antar peserta dengan narasumber dan fasilitator. Metode ini lebih efektif dan efisien untuk memahami politik identitas, menginternalisasikannya menjadi sikap dan perilaku yang positif. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa pemilih pemula memahami bahwa Indonesia multikultur dan potensial munculnya politik identitas. Namun sendi-sendi kebinekaan yang sudah terbangun menjadikan kehidupan yang toleran dan harmonis. Kekhawatiran terjadinya politik identitas cukup beralasan karena efektif untuk memobilisasi pemilih. Tetapi sosialisasi telah meningkatkan pemahaman tentang penggunaan narasai politik identitas dan mendorong rasionalitas yang sehat dalam konteks demokrasi.
